Slowe is Chicago's curated guide to Sustainable, Local, Organic, Wellness Experiences. We're a brand-new, 100% bootstrapped startup app on a mission to make it effortless for health-conscious consumers to discover and support purpose-driven businesses that align with their values.
Our platform connects people with hand-picked restaurants, cafes, wellness spaces, fitness studios, specialty markets, and unique experiences that meet our four Quality Standards: Health, Sustainability, Community, and Atmosphere. We're currently preparing to launch our beta program with passionate early adopters while continuing to build new features and onboard businesses to our platform.
Our MVP is launching in Chicago in 2025, but this is just the beginning. Based on demand, we plan to expand Slowe to more cities very soon!
The Opportunity
We're seeking a part-time Social Media Marketer to help establish and grow our Instagram presence as we prepare for launch. This is an incredible ground-floor opportunity to shape the social media strategy of a wellness-focused startup and connect with Chicago's wellness community.
You'll be instrumental in creating engaging content that showcases Chicago's best health-minded businesses while building excitement around the Slowe app launch. You'll work directly with our founder to develop content that resonates with both potential users and the businesses we feature.
What You'll Do
Content Creation: Develop and produce engaging Instagram posts, stories, and reels that highlight Chicago's best sustainable, local, organic, and wellness-focused businesses
Brand Storytelling: Help craft Slowe's authentic voice and visual identity across social platforms
Community Engagement: Interact with followers, respond to comments and DMs, and build relationships with local businesses and influencers
Email Marketing Support: Assist with email campaigns to our growing waitlist and beta user community
Content Planning: Collaborate on content calendars and social media strategy
Market Research: Stay current on social media trends in the health, wellness, and foodie spaces
Analytics & Optimization: Track performance metrics and suggest improvements to increase engagement and growth
Cross-Platform Support: Occasionally assist with website content updates and other marketing materials
Who You Are
Essential Qualities:
Health & Wellness Enthusiast: Genuinely passionate about clean living, sustainability, and holistic wellness
Chicago Foodie: Connected to Chicago's food and wellness scene with knowledge of local hotspots
Social Media Savvy: Experienced in creating engaging content for Instagram, with strong understanding of platform best practices, trends, and analytics
Community-Oriented: Active in Chicago's health and wellness community with authentic connections
Required Experience:
Social media marketing experience (personal projects, internships, or professional)
Email marketing knowledge and experience
Web design experience, knowledge, or strong interest (we currently use Squarespace)
Proficiency with design tools (we currently use Canva)
Familiarity with AI tools (we currently use Claude AI for content creation)
Preferred Qualifications:
Portfolio of social media content creation
Experience with wellness, food, or lifestyle brands
Knowledge of Chicago's local business landscape
Photography and video editing skills
